Being the people of God - Doing the Work of God - Seeking the Glory of God

Our Mission & Vision

Habakkuk 2:2–3 (ESV)

2 And the LORD answered me:
            “Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
      3      For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
            If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.

Mission and Vision are critically important for any church.  No single passage of scripture has spoken more clearly about the need to articulate these to the people of the church than the passage above from Habakkuk.  Without a clear direction of where we are going as a church we will simply wander aimlessly through life.  But if we have a clear mission and vision we may run with endurance the race God has set before us.

So what is the mission and vision of Clarion C&MA?

Our Mission:
Being the people of God - Doing the work of God - Seeking the glory of God

Our mission is really "what we are about" at Clarion C&MA.  In other words, our mission is how we go about living out the Christian life.

Our Vision:
The men and women of Clarion C&MA are dedicated to growing in Christ through Transformational Teaching.  The result of this commitment is the integration of new and existing members into an authentic Biblical Community, worship services that place the highest value on the Presence of God, and the tenacity required to become known as a People of Prayer!

Our vision, in contrast to our mission, is what we are becoming.  Basically our vision is what we believe God desires our church to be.

Our mission and vision statements are clear, concise versions of the truths of what we believe a healthy church should be and do.  However, we realize that statements such as these may not make much sense to those who are considering becoming a part of our church.  With that in mind we have included the following five sermons which explain the mission and vision of our church.  Our vision is a fourfold vision based out of Acts 2:42-47, and each of the first four sermons deals with one aspect of that vision.  The final sermon deals with how we become the vision, or put another way, the mission of our church.  We do hope you find this sermon series helpful in discovering if Clarion C&MA is the church for you and your family.  Those of us who call Clarion C&MA home definitely find them to be helpful reminders of who we are, where we are going, and how we are getting there.

The Fourfold Vision of Our Church

"Teaching" As Vision
Healthy, growing members of Clarion C&MA should be committed to transformational teaching. The evidence of this commitment is our individual cooperation with the Holy Spirit, each other, and those who are teaching.

Transformational Teaching is defined as teaching that goes beyond educating the mind only.  This type of teaching brings about holy living and effective service for our King.

 "Fellowship" As Vision
Healthy, growing members of Clarion C&MA should be committed to genuine biblical community. The evidence of this commitment is a deep, abiding love for one another that spills over into the community at large.

Genuine Biblical Community is defined as fellowship that goes beyond mere acquaintance with other church members.  This type of fellowship comes from being completely transparent with others in both our triumphs and our struggles.

 "Worship" As Vision
Healthy, growing members of Clarion C&MA should be committed to practicing the presence of God.  Evidence of this commitment is shown by our eager expectation that God’s Spirit will move in every service, bible study, prayer meeting, and private devotional time we have.

Practicing the presence of God is defined as a habitual process of reverent adoration undertaken by true worshipers of God by which we come to sense the very real and living presence of Christ among us.

 "Prayer" As Vision
Healthy, growing members of Clarion C&MA should be committed to being a people of prayer.  Evidence of this commitment is shown by our devotion to cultivating a deep prayer life both corporately and individually.

People of prayer are people who believe that prayer is the ultimate acknowledgment that we are needy and broken.  As such, we understand that a vibrant relationship with Christ through a consistent prayer life is the only sure way become all that God desires us to be.
